More than 60 guests with special needs danced Saturday at Riverhouse Lodge in Bend at the first Permission to Dance Prom.

A 21-year-old man was arrested outside Silver Rail Elementary School Monday morning at 11:45 a.m. after 911 calls reported an armed man near a home on Whitetail Street, and officers found he was unarmed when they took him into custody on suspicion of harassment, restraining order violation, and resisting arrest.
A Bend driver, Thomas Lee Downs Jr., 38, was taken into custody on Monday after his truck crashed through the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office gate and hit a wall Saturday—he now faces charges of DUII, reckless driving, criminal mischief and violating parole with damage estimated at over $80,000.
