During the 2024-25 fishing season, 961 adult steelhead returned to the Upper Deschutes River as strong ocean conditions and local restoration efforts helped them complete a 300-mile journey upstream of the Pelton Round Butte Dam Complex — most fish were from hatcheries and pilot studies, marking the highest run since the 1960s.
