  • At Mt. Bachelor, hundreds gathered on Sunday for Brian’s Race—a memorial ski event to honor coach Brian Roberts who died in an avalanche last month—and his daughter Taya led athletes on the slopes as the Roberts family plans a foundation to help underprivileged kids learn to ski.  Central Oregon Daily

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A fire early Sunday morning destroyed a home, two sheds, and a wooden fence on the 2000 block of SW 30th St in Redmond after embers from a recreational fire spread—and firefighters quickly contained the blaze with no injuries reported.  Central Oregon Daily

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • During the 2024-25 fishing season, 961 adult steelhead returned to the Upper Deschutes River as strong ocean conditions and local restoration efforts helped them complete a 300-mile journey upstream of the Pelton Round Butte Dam Complex — most fish were from hatcheries and pilot studies, marking the highest run since the 1960s.  The Oregonian
