COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Dozens of local agencies will join the second annual forum on homelessness at Westside Church in Bend on Tuesday, March 3 (2051 NW Shevlin Park Road). The event will feature panels with former chronically homeless individuals and a filmmaker discussing ongoing challenges and coordinated plans for Central Oregon.  Bend Bulletin

CULTURE NEWS

  • A local guide lists Bend events from Feb. 19 to 25, including art exhibits at High Desert Museum, live theater at Cascades Theatre and family programs at Roundabout Books (check times and prices before attending).   • Bend will host a vibrant week of live music with events from local and international acts — on Thursday 2/19, Potter and Quon perform at River’s Place from 6 to 8 p.m. while Moontricks will play at Midtown Ballroom at 8 p.m., and more shows are scheduled through next Tuesday.  Bend Bulletin
  • Comedian John Mulaney will perform at Hayden Homes Amphitheater Saturday, May 16, with special guests Fred Armisen and Mike Birbiglia. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Deschutes County Natural Resources began winter pile burning near Seventh Mountain Resort and Points West on Tuesday, covering up to 24 acres of leftover limbs and brush from fuel reduction work. Smoke may affect air quality overnight — residents should keep doors and windows closed.  KTVZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Oregon State Parks is hiring seasonal park rangers and assistants for the 2026 season — positions starting this month run for four to nine months with wages above $20 per hour and benefits, with roles available from coastal to mountain parks.  Central Oregon Daily

HEALTH NEWS

  • Oregonians with peanut butter at home should check labels after a national recall affected more than 20,000 products due to blue plastic found during manufacturing (the FDA advises following retailer guidance for returns or disposal).  Central Oregon Daily

  • Bend Olympian Hunter Hess is set to compete in the Olympic halfpipe freeski event in Italy Thursday, with qualifiers starting at 1:30 a.m. PT and finals planned for Friday. The local athlete, a Summit High graduate who trained with MBSEF, aims to win a medal while rising above recent controversy.  Bend Bulletin
  • Mt. Bachelor received 4 inches of snow overnight and expects up to 4 more inches today. The resort offers $99 lift tickets through its Play Forever Thursday initiative – a portion of proceeds benefits the Central Oregon Avalanche Center.  KTVZ
