Rethink Waste Together: Local Steps We Can Take to Better Care For Our Planet

About this event

Have you ever wondered if you’re recycling right, or what actually happens to your waste after it leaves the curb?

Join the Zion Lutheran Creation Care Team for a friendly, interactive workshop about action steps you can take to reduce you and your family’s environmental footprint and improve the health of our community.

We’re teaming up with The Environmental Center’s Rethink Waste Project to dive into:

How to improve your curbside recycling (including ensuring ‘specialty’ items like styrofoam and light bulbs get recycled)

The biggest household sources currently filling our local Knott Landfill

How to compost at home and around Redmond, including tips for our high desert climate

Plastic Recycling Best Practices (and what, if anything, the arrows & numbers mean)

Everyday things you can be a part of to reduce impact (like clothing and “stuff” swaps, repair and reuse, textile recycling, and ‘Buy Nothing’ groups)

We’ll close with time for questions and conversation. Stick around to celebrate the launch of our free book library!

Rooted in the belief that we’re called to care for this good Earth for our children and grandchildren, this event welcomes people of every faith and no faith.

Come for cookies, coffee, and plant-based treats, and leave with a deeper connection to our local community.

Family-friendly and open to all ages.
