- ➤ A new concert series debuts at Tower Theatre in January, presented by OSU-Cascades and the Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts. - ➤ Bend-La Pine School District has unveiled a plan to boost early reading skills that will be discussed at the board meeting today; the plan uses a new curriculum with 60 minutes of reading (and 15 minutes of handwriting) daily and aims for 95% proficiency in third grade over 6-7 years. - ➤ The Bureau of Land Management announced it is lowering personal-use permit fees for Christmas trees and firewood to $1 on public lands in Oregon and Washington — a move that helps reduce wildfire risks while saving families money.
