- ➤ The Deschutes National Forest is offering Christmas tree permits for Bend residents to pick trees from forest lands; each permit costs $5 and households may buy up to five permits while following rules to cut trees only in safe areas away from roads, streams, and campsites. - ➤ On Thanksgiving morning, over 5,000 Central Oregonians bundled up to run the annual I Like Pie event at Riverbend Park—an initiative that supported the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bend and featured three routes leading to a slice of Costco pie. Organizers hoped to raise $50,000 this year and held the new Perfect Slice Challenge with judges such as Sen. Anthony Broadman and Mayor Melanie Kebler. KTVZ
