- ➤ Bend Fire & Rescue is holding a food drive through Dec. 12 to fight food insecurity as donations of non-perishable items like canned goods, dried pasta, grains, honey and sugar will be accepted at fire stations in Bend and Tumalo—NeighborImpact will distribute the food to local pantries and shelters. - ➤ Bend families can enjoy Thanksgiving weekend with a pie run on Thursday at Riverbend Park, a Turkey Trot on Redmond’s Juniper Golf Course, local shopping on Small Business Saturday, and Santa arriving by helicopter on Friday at the Old Mill District — families can also ice skate and stargaze at local rinks and observatories. - ➤ On Sunday, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and volunteers delivered Thanksgiving meal boxes to over 35 local families, with the deputies’ union buying 33 boxes and Local Acres donating additional meals. Central Oregon Daily
- ➤ Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Oregon is asking local residents to mentor about 90 youth this holiday season—adults known as Bigs will meet with their Littles two to four times a month in low- or no-cost activities. The program pairs adult mentors with young people to help them navigate school and life. KTVZ

- ➤ Breeze Airways, which will begin flights from Redmond this spring, said it will not fly between Redmond and Burbank—leaving Alaska Airlines as the only carrier after Avelo Airlines stopped service. Central Oregon Daily
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Residents have just over a month to claim federal tax credits on energy efficient upgrades—Energy Trust of Oregon is urging locals to invest in solar panels, heat pumps, insulation and windows before the credits expire on December 31st. Those who complete their upgrades by then can also benefit from state programs that will remain available after the federal credits end. Bend Bulletin
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Oregon and eight other states proposed a settlement that requires Greystar to stop using rent-setting algorithms—allegedly using sensitive competitor data to inflate prices—and to pay $7 million to California, which will then distribute the funds to the remaining states. The settlement will be reviewed by the U.S. District Court and could prevent a trial while changing rent pricing practices. Bend Bulletin
- ➤ Governor Tina Kotek said donors have matched Oregon’s $6 million commitment—including $5 million in state funds and $1 million for tribes—to aid food banks after the federal shutdown threatened SNAP benefits for 757,000 Oregonians in late October. More funds are still being raised by organizations + anonymous contributors to help fill gaps in Oregon’s social safety net. The Oregonian
