On Sunday, Bend marked World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims when Bend Bikes— a local nonprofit that advocates for safer biking and walking—led community members at Peace Corner to honor lives lost in traffic crashes.
Speakers who had lost loved ones urged stronger safety measures as traffic deaths remain high nationwide and local bicycle crashes increased by 47 percent this year.
