  • Hundreds of runners and walkers participated in COCC’s 26th annual Turkey Trot Saturday along the campus track to raise funds for student scholarships, and families joined the free Toddler Trot with T-shirts, prizes and a light breakfast provided.  Central Oregon Daily
  • Visions of Sugarplums held a bake and craft sale Saturday at SHARC in Sunriver to raise funds for local charities—most of the proceeds went to Furnish Hope, which works to furnish homes across central Oregon.  Central Oregon Daily
  • On Thursday, people lined up at Sisters Food Bank—run by the Kiwanis Club of Sisters—as they picked up food after a court order restored SNAP funding on November 7. Food centers in Bend, including the Salvation Army and local churches, also saw a rise in visitors because high living costs kept more families in need.  Bend Bulletin
  • The beloved Old Fashion Christmas event is happening today at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center—visitors can browse arts, crafts, antiques and unique gifts while enjoying festive food, hourly prize drawings, holiday movies and a visit from Santa. Admission is $6, or $5 for veterans and seniors, with extra prize drawing tickets for those who bring a canned good for the Lil' Bit Food Pantry.  KTVZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Dry Canyon Arts Association launched its Fall Art Show and Sale on Saturday at Redmond High School, where over 50 local professional and student artists displayed their work—today visitors can view the art from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., enter a raffle for 65 donated pieces and learn about the nearly-completed Community Art Center that will host classes and exhibits for art education.  Central Oregon Daily

  • Bend girls soccer team won the Class 5A state championship on Nov. 15 when Piper Abrams’ early goal led them to a 1-0 victory over North Eugene/Triangle Lake at Hillsboro Stadium — they ended the season undefeated.  The Oregonian
