  • Deschutes Public Library Director Todd Dunkelberg announced he will retire in September, ending his 16 years as director and 26 years with the library system. The library board will begin a national search for his replacement in January with a four to six week transition planned.  KTVZ

BUSINESS NEWS

  • JIA Asian Street Kitchen in southwest Bend introduced BaoBao, a robotic server that helps deliver meals — management said the tech is meant to support staff rather than replace them.  Central Oregon Daily
  • Ma Dee Thai Street Food, a family-run truck led by Atima Guzzonato, opened last week at Bend RV Resort after its debut at a farmers market and quickly sold out its popular Thai noodle dishes. The truck serves customers Thursday to Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. — its menu features items like crispy pork noodle and chicken noodle bowls that have drawn strong local interest.  Bend Bulletin
  • Johnson Brothers Appliances, owned by the Johnson family, celebrated 75 years of selling and servicing appliances in Bend by growing from a small shop in 1950 to a large store on Azure Lane—now led by David and Brian Johnson, the business serves builders and local buyers with a focus on personal service.  Bend Bulletin

HEALTH NEWS

  • St. Charles Health System announced Thursday it reached an agreement with PacificSource that will let thousands of patients stay in-network on a one-year Medicare Advantage contract and a two-year commercial contract — the deal comes after earlier talks that aimed to avoid coverage disruptions. The agreement supports continued local access to care.  Central Oregon Daily

SPORTS NEWS

  • Three local football teams are still alive in the postseason — each needs one win to reach the state semifinals. Summit and Mountain View will host quarterfinal games today at 7 p.m. while Culver will play its 2A game on Saturday on the road — all aiming to advance further.  Bend Bulletin
