- ➤ Bend’s new neighborhood park will be called Coulter Grove Park. The 3.1-acre site at 20185 Reed Lane — southeast of the Old Mill District — was approved by the Bend Park & Recreation District board on Tuesday and has $1.75 million allocated for its development. Bend Bulletin

- ➤ Toast Wear Inc. of Bend was named an early stage finalist at the Bend Venture Conference and received a $25,000 cash award for its personalized heating system for winter gear—its plans include a Kickstarter campaign next year. - ➤ Three judges from the Oregon Court of Appeals visited Ridgeview High School in Redmond on Thursday — answering questions and holding oral arguments for nearly 400 students — as part of a statewide program that shows how the judicial branch works. The program gives students a firsthand look at the appeals process and explains the courts' roles in our government. KTVZ
- ➤ At a crowded meeting on Wednesday night, the Redmond School Board voted 3—2 to update Policy JBB back to the original language recommended by the Oregon School Boards Association—sparking heated public debate over school curriculum and diversity. Central Oregon Daily
