CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Bend author Moriah McDill has released her self-published board book Bend ABCs that uses the alphabet to introduce local spots like Deschutes and rock climbing areas—she spent 600 days creating the book after being inspired during walks along the Deschutes River with her baby. The book is now available in local stores and on McDill’s website. Bend Bulletin
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Central Oregon Community College will hold its annual JobFest career fairs next month at the Bend campus on Oct 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and at the Redmond campus on Oct 7 when nearly 40 local employers and agencies will help job seekers connect with work opportunities. COCC will also offer free resume-building workshops on Sept 30 from 11 a.m. to noon at Bend and on Oct 6 from 3 to 4 p.m. at Redmond—both events are free. Bend Bulletin
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Westbound Butler Market Road between Brinson Boulevard and Eighth Street in Bend will be closed starting Monday for roundabout construction at the intersection with Wells Acres Road — eastbound lanes will remain open and drivers should use the detour via Brinson Boulevard. The project will include a new sewer main plus bike and pedestrian improvements as part of the voter-approved 2020 Transportation GO Bond. Bend Bulletin

- ➤ Following the recommendations from the West Coast Health Alliance on Wednesday, the Oregon Health Authority issued guidelines for COVID, flu and RSV shots to help protect public health. KBND

- ➤ Today, Bend homeowners can choose from pre-approved ADU plans released by the Bend Chamber of Commerce—designed to meet city codes and reduce permitting time and costs.
