Elevation Farmers Market paused operations when a vendor suffered heat stroke in late July and will resume its outdoor market every Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. starting Sept.
4 while launching its first indoor series on Nov. 27 (designed like a European winter market to support local vendors).
Fire crews contained a small brush fire started by sparks from a circular saw near U.S. 20 at 63265 Jamison Street on Tuesday (which burned about a quarter-acre and led to evacuations) near a Bend Fire and Rescue station.
Monkless Belgian Ales, a Bend staple, will celebrate its 10th anniversary (with hourly beer releases and live music) at The Abbey Taproom from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept.

Silver Moon Brewing (24 NW Greenwood Ave) will host two instrumental rock shows starting after 7 p.m. on Sept.
5 featuring The Kronk Men, Cutter Marie and Portland’s A Collective Subconscious, and on Sept. 9 with Gathering, SPINA and Fantastic Flying Foelschs; tickets are $10/$15 and $12 respectively.
Hundreds of students returned to class at Trinity Lutheran School, with 150 high schoolers on Monday and 530 K–8 students on Tuesday in the first full academic year using the new high school building near the NE Butler Market Road and Empire Avenue roundabout; enrollment has doubled since the pandemic.
OR-213, a 16-month-old wolf that recently left its pack, was seen four times near Crater Lake roads on Saturday, with additional encounters reported on Sunday evening 20 miles southwest of Bend.
ODFW tracked the wolf with a collar and urges motorists to stay 100 yards away + avoid feeding it.
Deschutes County expanded recycling options to include materials not accepted by curbside pickup, with four RecycleOn centers already operating (La Pine, Bend, Redmond and Sisters).
Officials said three more centers will open in Bend and one more in Redmond in the coming year to support responsible recycling.
Bend's Oregon Parks and Recreation Department will award nearly $1.6 million through the Recreational Trails Program to build or restore public trails.
Applicants must submit a letter of intent by Sept. 30 and final applications by Nov. 16; a webinar will help on Sept. 9 (10 a.m. to noon).
Franklin Avenue is being paved from NE Third to NE Eighth with temporary one-way traffic and driveway restrictions from Sept.
1 to 3, and a full road closure including the Bend Parkway undercrossing will begin Sept. 14 with detours on Greenwood, Olney and Colorado avenues.
The Deschutes County Health Department inspected nearly 60 restaurants and food carts in August and scored each establishment from 100 down to 70, with scores below 70 leading to a notice posted at the door.
Inspections took place in Bend, Redmond and La Pine.
