- ➤ Oregonians’ credit card balances increased 25% from 2021 to 2024 as rising prices pushed borrowing higher—while the average balance of about $6,200 remained below the national level. Fewer than 10% are severely behind on payments, compared to over 13% nationally. The Oregonian
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Flat fire in central Oregon has made the air unhealthy as Bend, Redmond, and La Pine show indices above 150 while firefighters work to slow its spread. The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office expanded evacuations for several neighborhoods—around 4,000 homes are at risk as 800 firefighters continue their efforts. The Oregonian

- ➤ City officials in Sisters are urging residents to prepare for a possible evacuation as the Flat Fire develops and no orders are in effect; Mayor Jennifer Letz said everyone should check emergency supplies and plan routes. A community meeting is held today from 6 to 7 p.m. at Sisters High School—officials will provide fire updates and answer questions. Central Oregon Daily
- ➤ A Central Oregon Town Hall was held Sunday morning at OSU Cascades—Edward J. Ray Hall in Bend with Representative Emerson Levy, Senator Anthony Broadman, Representative Jason Kropf, Mayor Melanie Kebler, Mayor Ed Fitch, and Commissioner Phil Chang to discuss the region’s future. KTVZ
