ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Bend Fire and Rescue responded to a residential fire on White Rock Loop that began just before 1 p.m. Saturday when a closet fluorescent light caused hot debris to ignite nearby materials—no injuries were reported as the home owner returned and called 911 after hearing smoke alarms. KTVZ
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On August 22, 2025 just after 7 a.m., police raided an unlicensed marijuana extraction lab on the 11000 block of Cedarwood Drive in southern Deschutes County—located in Klamath County—and seized over 4,000 pounds of marijuana while removing four children from unsafe living conditions. KTVZ
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Flat Fire doubled in size overnight near Sisters, burning thousands of acres and forcing rapid evacuations in Cloverdale—firefighters from across Oregon worked to protect homes while officials continue investigating its cause. Central Oregon Daily
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City officials say the government-run homeless camp in the juniper woods north of Bend—Dirt World—has grown faster than planned, now housing over 219 people in tents, trailers, and makeshift shelters. They plan to cap new entries and help residents move into stable housing by the end of 2026 as service demands and costs rise. Bend Bulletin
