- ➤ Big Brothers Big Sisters Central Oregon will hold its 28th annual Comedy for Kids’ Sake fundraiser Oct. 3 at Tetherow Pavilion in Bend. Tickets cost $125 for individuals and $1,200 for tables of 10—funds will support one-on-one mentorship for children. Bend Bulletin

- ➤ Bend Brewing Co. and Sisters Meat & Smokehouse have teamed up to open the Way West dining and beverage space at the Jackstraw mixed-use housing development near downtown Bend—this 3,800-square-foot space will open next spring with a full bar offering beer from Bend Brewing and fresh meats from Sisters Meat & Smokehouse. - ➤ Rock of Ages is coming to Drake Park Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.—the outdoor musical revives classic rock with live electric guitar by Steven Livingston while director Michelle Mejaski tackles challenges like shifting lighting to bring the show to life. Bend Bulletin

- ➤ The Pine Fire near the Maury Mountains southeast of Prineville led to a level 3 evacuation and burned 20 acres so far—officials say it does not threaten the Post area and are monitoring its growth. Central Oregon Daily
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Low-income Oregon families must apply by Sept. 3 for a $120 per child EBT benefit to help pay for summer food costs. Nearly 350,000 eligible children have benefited (over $41 million credited) and families not receiving the benefit automatically should apply soon. The Oregonian
- ➤ Bend City Council approved the construction contract for the Butler Market and Wells Acres Roundabout and key route project, which will begin early to mid September as eastbound traffic on Butler Market Road stays open while westbound traffic closes from Brinson Boulevard to Eighth Street. The city will host a preconstruction open house at Hollinshead Barn, 1235 NE Jones Road on Tuesday, August 19 from 4:30–6:30 p.m.—community members can ask questions and meet the project team. KTVZ
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Mosaic Community Health’s Street Medicine program brings mobile health care to rural encampments outside Bend and Redmond — teams visit every other week to offer exams, rapid tests, and treatments directly to unsheltered residents. Supported by new grants, the service is expanding its fleet and plans to add more care options in the coming months. Source Weekly
