ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Nearly a dozen Deschutes County Sheriff's Search and Rescue volunteers responded shortly after 11:15 a.m. Tuesday to help two hikers with medical issues on the Chush Falls trail south of Sisters—one hiker returned on his own while the other was carried on a wheeled litter to the trailhead as part of a multi-agency rescue involving the Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District and the U.S. Forest Service. - ➤ El Sancho Taco Shop reopened its eastside location on DeKalb Avenue near Third Street—more than a year after a kitchen fire caused over $250,000 in damage. Co-owner Jon Barvels said the restaurant now features a colorful new look and updated kitchen equipment while serving the classic menu that locals love. KTVZ

- ➤ The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office is asking for help finding 12-year-old Allison ‘Alli’ Clemens — last seen leaving her home near Alfalfa Market Road about three miles east of Bend at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29th — described as a white female 5’2” tall and weighing 95–100 pounds, who may be on foot or riding with an unknown person; anyone with information should call the non-emergency line at (541) 693-6911. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Oregon Coast was under a tsunami advisory on Tuesday night after an 8.8-magnitude quake hit Russia’s Far East—officials warned people to leave beaches and marinas as waves were expected around 11:40 p.m. local time. The National Weather Service advised coastal residents to seek higher ground for safety. Bend Bulletin

- ➤ Deschutes County appointed veteran DCSO captain Ty Rupert interim sheriff on July 29 to lead the agency through the 2026 election cycle—he will be sworn in on July 31 and start work on August 1 while planning to run for sheriff next May. Source Weekly
