- ➤ The 105th Deschutes County Fair & Rodeo will begin Wednesday, July 30 in Redmond and run until Sunday, Aug. 3 at the county fair and expo center. Visitors will enjoy over 40 carnival attractions, rodeo competitions starting at 6:30 p.m., free concerts and food from more than 30 vendors — including Wahlburgers making its Oregon debut and a $10,000 donation to Folds of Honor. - ➤ The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office announced that Leon Lyle Haight, the 84-year-old man reported missing from Paulina Lake Campground, was safely located early this morning near Devil’s Horn after a volunteer found him in a remote area. Medics evaluated him — he declined transport and is now reuniting with his family. KBND

- ➤ Swift water teams, K-9 units and drones have continued to search for a man who went missing at Dillon Falls on July 19 while tubing on the Deschutes River. Officials used sonar and technical rope systems — following strict safety protocols as they scoured both banks, and the victim’s family remains in daily contact with law enforcement. - ➤ Tumalo Day Camp at Tumalo State Park has offered outdoor skills for kids ages 4 to 16 for over 30 years and serves 120–130 campers each session. Camp Fire Central Oregon runs the camp with volunteer counselors—integral to its ongoing sessions and future plans including one from Aug. 18 to 22. Bend Bulletin

- ➤ Thick smoke from wildfires is making outdoor activities harder and posing health risks for sensitive groups, with Bend recording more days of poor air quality compared to past decades. Local agencies plus event organizers are changing schedules and event formats to help keep people safe as wildfire smoke is expected to worsen in coming seasons. Source Weekly

- ➤ Governor Kotek signed five bipartisan bills on Monday to boost affordable housing, and a Bend homeowner praised the new measures as a key step in lowering costs and easing zoning restrictions. The legislation will streamline building permits, fund infrastructure and support factory-produced modular homes - actions that should help increase housing supply for local families. KTVZ

- ➤ Bend’s Campbell McKean failed to qualify for the finals of the 100-meter breaststroke on Sunday in Singapore — he finished 15th with a time of 59.74 seconds.
