- ➤ Hayden Homes is clearing a 37-acre site east of Bend off U.S. Highway 20 to build about 350 homes with prices starting at $475,000 and affordable rentals for those earning less than 80% of the area median income. The project is possible due to a pilot urban growth boundary experiment that bypassed normal rules and received cost assistance from local government — a test that may shape future land policy in the region.
