- ➤ A Bend family found a hidden BottleDrop bottle for the second time in three years at Wickiup Dam in La Pine — and they donated the $1,000 prize to a nonprofit that had nearly claimed it last year. Central Oregon Daily
- ➤ The Pink Duck 5K returned to Bend on Sunday with families and runners gathering at Lifty’s Bar and Restaurant to raise awareness about human trafficking and online safety—participants wore pink and took part in connection challenges along the 5K route before enjoying a post-race celebration. In Our Backyard, the nonprofit behind the event, will host the Fall Freedom Fest on November 7 to further support survivors. Central Oregon Daily

- ➤ Sen. Mike Lee withdrew a plan to sell up to 3.3 million acres of public land from a GOP tax and spending bill after lawmakers from both sides raised concerns over conserving outdoor spaces—local officials, including Bend’s Mayor Melanie Kebler, emphasized that affordable housing must be supported by federal funds rather than by land sales.
