  • Tickets are on sale for the 36th annual Great Drake Park Duck Race, a Bend tradition where rubber ducks float down the Deschutes River—tickets cost $5 for a chance to win one of 20 prizes and proceeds will support local nonprofits including Partners In Care, Latino Community Association and Family Access Network until September 7th.  KTVZ
  • CNN Travel ranked Bend No. 4 on its list of the best towns to visit in 2025 and called it an outdoor paradise—highlighting its outdoor adventures, live music, creative lodging, and food and beer scene.  Central Oregon Daily

  • Wanderlust Tours and AdvenChair were recognized by Travel Oregon for forming a partnership that improved outdoor accessibility for people with mobility issues—Travel Oregon also honored Visit Central Oregon's Sasha Bosco. Mosaic Community Health CEO Megan Haase received an Oregon Primary Care award for innovation and leadership, and David Oliver was named food and beverage director at Black Butte Ranch.  Bend Bulletin
  • Warby Parker will open its first Bend store in the Old Mill District on Saturday, July 5 at the former Pink store location at 520 SW Powerhouse Drive, Suite 606 — the store will offer free custom tote bags with eyewear purchases while supplies last and provide eye exams and telehealth services.  Central Oregon Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Local legislators are reflecting on efforts in transportation, public health, and wildfire risk mapping as Oregon's 2025 session officially ends Sunday. Lawmakers still must pass a multi-million-dollar transportation package that will raise the state's gas tax—an issue that continues to spark debate.  KTVZ
  • Starting June 30, the city will begin street preservation work with grind and inlay resurfacing on several Bend streets—resulting in lane and street closures and delays during daytime hours of 7:00 a.m.—6:00 p.m. and nighttime hours of 7:00 p.m.—6:00 a.m. Special event closures for the Fourth of July Pet Parade and Bend Summer Festival will also require drivers to use detour routes.  KTVZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Central Oregon families whose children face psychiatric crises will soon have an in-patient treatment option with a new 15-bed facility planned for Redmond by fall 2026. Lawmakers approved $3.1 million, with matching funds from the Oregon Health Authority and a $750,000 grant from the Central Oregon Health Council — the project aims to offer closer care.  Bend Bulletin

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Mt. Bachelor opened its summer season on Thursday with mountain biking, zip lining and chairlift rides available for visitors. Visit Bend noted that summer visits more than doubled since 2018—about one third of Bend summer visitors come to enjoy these outdoor adventures.  Bend Bulletin
