- ➤ Deschutes County Fair Director Geoff Hinds said the 340-acre fairgrounds, which bring over $100 million in economic impact, are planning to add 140 acres to host more events and support growing tourism. The fairgrounds now draw nearly a million visitors each year, helping local hotels, restaurants and businesses thrive. Source Weekly

- ➤ Lauren Kurzman, who has run The Village Baker for nearly 30 years, is selling the bakery for $800,000 to pursue new interests—this sale covers only the business and not the leased space that ends in July. The 4000 square foot bakery on SW Knoll Avenue serves soups, salads and baked goods Tuesday through Saturday and employs 15 workers. Bend Bulletin
- ➤ Burgerville will open Monday in Bend at the former Del Taco building on Third Street and Wilson Avenue, and it will give gift cards for 52 classic cheeseburgers to its first 100 customers. The chain, known for using local ingredients, will also offer a special beer cheese slider made with 10 Barrel Brewing Co.—with part of its price helping The Giving Plate. Bend Bulletin

- ➤ The High Desert Museum will host its 36th High Desert Rendezvous fundraiser on Aug. 23 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will raise funds for exhibitions and programs with hosted bar, appetizers, games and auctions, with tickets at $200 for members and $250 for nonmembers after last year's $620,000 raised. - ➤ Lawmakers invested nearly $300,000 to expand water recycling for irrigation by hiring an interagency team leader to cut regulatory barriers to reusing treated wastewater — the Senate passed the measure 28-1 on June 19 and it now awaits Gov. Tina Kotek's signature to become law. Bend Bulletin
- ➤ Governor Kotek came to Bend on June 18th at Mosaic Community Health (joining 11 local experts) to discuss proposed federal cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, and she warned the cuts may remove coverage for over 200,000 people (a lifeline for many). Source Weekly

- ➤ The Oregon Trail Gravel Grinder will start on Wednesday, June 29 and run for five days on gravel and dirt roads in the Central Oregon Cascades, finishing at Seventh Mountain Resort west of Bend. The race attracts a strong field including former Unbound Gravel winners and local rider Serena Bishop Gordon — with 300 riders set to tackle roughly 360 miles and nearly 30,000 feet of climbing.
