- ➤ Bend-La Pine Schools will serve free summer meals for children and teens at three locations starting June 16 while the Boys and Girls Club of Bend will begin meal service on June 24—meals must be eaten on site and parents can join or purchase a meal for $5. Bend Bulletin
- ➤ Central Oregon nonprofits—MountainStar Family Relief Nursery and Deschutes Children’s Foundation—warned that federal funding risks may lead to reduced community services after USDA announced more than $1 billion in cuts that already forced groups like NeighborImpact to cut food supplies by 17%. The organizations stressed their vital role in providing support during crises and everyday needs. KTVZ
- ➤ Oregon youth ages 1 to 18 can access free summer meals at nearly 700 sites — offered at schools, libraries, parks and community centers — as part of the Summer Food Service Program. - ➤ Team Rubicon—a group of military veterans and first responders—has deployed nearly 40 volunteers to the Wagon Trail Ranch community in La Pine to thin trees, clear brush and remove fire fuels over a 10-day period, with the project running through today.
