At Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery near Camp Sherman, visitors can feed fish for 25 cents per handful and explore a 5.4-mile hiking trail along the Metolius River (which features electric blue rapids).

Nosler, a Central Oregon ammunition maker, is constructing a 75,000 sqft headquarters in south Redmond to streamline operations and improve manufacturing conditions.
The company will begin relocating from Bend in July (adding 150 jobs to the region).
Bend welcomed two new stage shows yesterday as Cascades Theatre launched 'The Wedding Singer' with 80s musical flair and Open Space Event Studios opened 'Rabbit Hole,' a drama exploring family grief.
Both shows will run through June 14 (ticket prices differ by venue).
Cascades Academy invites summer camp sign-ups from June through August with Camp CREATE from June 22 to August 21 for K-5 students, a soccer camp for 4th-8th graders on the first week, STEAM camps in July for 3rd-9th graders and Outdoor Leadership Adventures for 6th-8th graders & financial aid available.
Bend-La Pine Schools students will get free summer transit passes from Cascades East Transit starting June 8 through August 31, 2026 so they can easily access jobs, parks, and community activities.
The passes work on fixed, Community Connector and Redmond Flex routes only.
Caldera High School senior Perrin Standen, 18, composes music and leads an ensemble — now with 8 to 11 members — and will perform with his 289-member graduating class this Saturday at 10 a.m. at Caldera High; he will study music composition at Occidental College next year.
On Wednesday, a 75-year-old woman from Portland became ill while hiking in Badlands Wilderness east of Bend and was rescued by Deschutes County Search & Rescue — volunteers hiked 1.4 miles to reach her before Bend Fire & Rescue took her to St. Charles Bend for treatment.
Stephen Kornfield, quarantined at his Bend home after a traumatic hantavirus outbreak on a birdwatching cruise, is monitored twice daily by a nurse while a security guard stands by.
His recovery continues — he must maintain strict distance even from his wife as he completes his isolation.
Eleven therapists at St. Charles Rehabilitation Unit must reapply or switch departments after the health system signed an agreement with Lifepoint Health to manage a $23 million upgrade — Lifepoint takes over on Aug.
1 and staff have two weeks to decide on their positions as the unit expands in December.
