- ➤ Bend Police arrested Nathaniel Benjamin Wright, 36, on Friday after a family member reported he planned a potential mass shooting following a family argument on NE Waller Avenue—officers used a drone to monitor his home and stopped his truck at gunpoint before he left, and they later secured an extreme risk protection order. - ➤ A Bend man was arrested on Friday after reportedly threatening a mass shooting during a family argument—he was taken into custody and evaluated at a hospital—and officers stopped his truck when he left his home carrying an AR-15–style rifle and a duffle bag. Central Oregon Daily
- ➤ A Bend man, Tony Latrell Williams, 42, was identified as the suspect who stabbed 12 people at a Salem men's shelter Sunday night—police said five victims remained in critical condition—and he now faces 12 counts of second-degree assault. KTVZ

- ➤ Two orphaned bobcat kittens rescued from a highway rest stop near Tygh Valley were transferred to Think Wild on May 19 for rehabilitation and are showing signs of recovery — they are gaining weight and beginning to display natural behaviors while receiving proper treatment to prepare for a return to the wild. - ➤ A three-week fuel reduction project is underway on a 150-acre property in southwest Bend owned by the Central Oregon Irrigation District—crews are thinning trees and cutting shaded fuel breaks along the Deschutes River Canyon to lower wildfire risk for nearby homes and infrastructure.
