- ➤ Children helped break ground on a new playground and shelter space for unhoused families at Mountain View Fellowship’s Safe Parking site in Redmond on Sunday using Tonka trucks and small shovels. The project led by Mountain View Community Development adds four microshelters—a pergola and landscaped area—to provide a safe space for families living in vehicles. Central Oregon Daily
- ➤ Seahorse Academy in Bend hosted a free lifejacket-fitting event Sunday so families could check that their children’s gear fits properly ahead of summer. The owner reminded parents that lifejackets are meant to be worn on the water and noted that survival swim lessons are available starting at six months. Central Oregon Daily

- ➤ Bend police found a 42-year-old man unconscious in the Deschutes River near Pioneer Park Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.—Bend Fire transported him to St. Charles Bend where he remains in critical condition. KTVZ
- ➤ A 71-year-old man died after being struck by a pickup truck in a parking lot on NE 3rd Street on Sunday afternoon — the driver, a 31-year-old Bend man, was cited for careless driving. Central Oregon Daily

- ➤ Hunter Noack, a classical pianist and naturalist, held an outdoor concert yesterday at Kah-Nee-Ta Resort and will deliver seven more concerts across Central Oregon as part of the IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild 10th anniversary tour. The concerts are scheduled at Black Butte Ranch in Sisters on June 16-18, at Wine Down Ranch in Prineville on June 19, at Summer Lake Hot Springs in Paisley on Sept 14, at Sunriver Resort on Sept 15 and at Drake Park in Bend—tickets cost $45 with free access available through the Good Neighbor Program. - ➤ Over the weekend, residents in Central Oregon saw the northern lights light up the sky with bright green, pink, and purple colors. Photos from local viewers showed the rare event created when solar particles meet Earth’s magnetic field — a natural light display that usually appears far to the north. KTVZ
