  • A free 'Slappy Hour' benefit at Bend Brewing Co featured local rock bands, skateboarding, art, and vendors to raise funds for cancer support organizations on Saturday. Event creator Jim Stowers (a cancer survivor) said the occasion aimed to raise awareness of important health signals.  Central Oregon Daily

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Saturday, 330 households at Bear Creek Elementary received 1,800 native plants from Pollinator Pathway Bend to support water-wise gardens and pollinator habitats. The event was backed by the City of Bend Water Conservation Program, Worthy Garden Club & WinterCreek Nursery.  Central Oregon Daily

SPORTS NEWS

  • Trinity Lutheran had its first individual state champion when sophomore Anthony DeMeyer won the Class 2A 110 meter hurdles on Friday at Hayward Field in Eugene, finishing in 15.69 seconds. He took advantage of an injured competitor to secure the historic win for his school.  Bend Bulletin
  • Caldera freshman Rikaiya Griffin won the Class 5A long jump state title Saturday in Eugene—jumping 18 ft, 7.25 in—and also placed third in the 100 and the 4x100 relay after managing migraines; she hopes to hit farther marks in future meets.  Bend Bulletin
  • Mountain View sophomore Chase Nosler won a state 100-meter sprint with a record time of 10.73 seconds Saturday afternoon at Hayward Field—he is the first individual champion from Mountain View since 2019.  Bend Bulletin
  • Caldera junior Justin Parsons jumped 23 ft, 6 in (after earlier near-misses) at Hayward Field on Saturday, May 30 to win the 5A boys long jump state title; he becomes the third Wolfpack athlete to claim a state crown.  Bend Bulletin
