  • Bend residents can enjoy local events from May 28–June 3 that include Art Meets Wine in Sunriver on May 30 plus community dance, sports, and family activities in Bend, Redmond, and Prineville, with free options and ticketed events available.  Bend Bulletin

CULTURE NEWS

  • This week, art venues in Central Oregon host exhibits featuring local talent; Amejko Artistry in Bend presents nomadic woven works by Anna Amejko Peterson while Art Adventure Gallery in Madras celebrates its 40th anniversary with local artists on display through June.  Bend Bulletin
  • Greenhouse Cabaret is hosting Liza’s Lounge: Rebellion from 7:30 p.m. June 4-6, featuring a themed musical performance and refreshments for $100. Additional shows include Angels in America starting Aug. 7 and Cabaret opening Oct. 16 at the theater (1017 NE Second St.).  Bend Bulletin
  • Central Oregon will host a week of live music with events starting Thursday, May 28 and running through Wednesday, June 3. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bend Senior High sophomore Hannah Miller’s winning ODOT safety design will soon appear on billboards across Central Oregon + serve as a reminder for drivers to keep their eyes up and slow down in work zones.  Central Oregon Daily
  • Bend high schools and colleges will hold graduations in early to mid-June. Mountain View High will host its ceremony from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, followed by events at Caldera, Bend and Summit High and final ceremonies at Realms High and Bend Tech Academy (set to merge).  Bend Bulletin
  • Three Central Oregon students received $3,500 scholarships from SELCO Community Credit Union last week to cover rising education costs - Ryan Quinn from Prineville and Luis Castro Hernandez and Tavia Zepnewski from Bend were selected from a competitive pool.  Central Oregon Daily

  • The University of Oregon Hazards Lab will add new AI wildfire cameras near The Dalles this early summer to boost fire detection and response in the Columbia Gorge — supported by a $250,000 Google grant after last year’s Rowena Fire.  Central Oregon Daily

  • Applications for Wickiup Station Apartments will open May 28 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the American Legion in La Pine, the Foundation for Affordable Housing said — the 39-unit project offers various apartments with a gym, community room and playground.  Bend Bulletin

SPORTS NEWS

  • Tuesday, May 26, Summit’s Ryker Hartlaub threw a perfect game in an 8 to 0 playoff win over Eagle Point at Summit High. The junior southpaw pitched 81 pitches with zero hits and struck out eight as his team advanced to Friday’s quarterfinal game against West Albany.  Bend Bulletin
