- ➤ On Sunday, Think Wild hosted its 5th Annual Wildlife Baby Shower at The Commons Cafe and Taproom in Bend to raise funds and collect supplies for injured and orphaned wildlife. The event featured live music, raffles, food and a silent auction—efforts that will help cover rising rescue costs as more animals are admitted. Central Oregon Daily
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Nomadics Tipi Makers, a family-owned company in Bend, supplied Kah-Nee-Ta Hot Springs Resort with new tipis when it reopened last July after a $13 million renovation. The company has honored Native American traditions for decades—donating tipis to nonprofits and partnering with Native artisans to preserve cultural heritage. The Oregonian
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Retired K9 Brolo, the police dog from the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, died last week after years of service. He began work in 2017 and retired in 2020—he lived with his longtime handler Detective Slater and his wife after retirement. KTVZ
- ➤ Deschutes County Commissioners asked PacifiCorp to consider Route D for its 180-mile Blueprint South transmission line because it would have less impact on residential and agricultural areas + they also proposed a hybrid option using sections of Routes A, B, and C to avoid new construction through public lands.
