- ➤ Oregon senators will soon review House Bill 3532 that speeds up renaming over 100 local geographic features with offensive names—by having the Oregon Geographic Names Board create a list and consult with tribes and local officials. Indigenous lawmakers say the new process will show respect and correct historical records. Central Oregon Daily
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Oregon Health Authority said overdose deaths fell 22% in 2024 — a drop that followed a national trend but still left rates above pre-pandemic levels. State officials will continue to expand treatment services and recovery support to address the ongoing health crisis. Central Oregon Daily
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Thousands of athletes gathered on Saturday for the annual SELCO Pole Pedal Paddle in Bend—an exciting multi-sport race that raised funds for the Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation. The race began at Mt. Bachelor and ended at Riverbend Park, featuring alpine skiing, biking, running, paddling and a final sprint that thrilled local fans. Central Oregon Daily
