- ➤ Habitat for Humanity brought back Women’s Build Week in southeast Bend after a five-year break to help women learn building skills and tackle homeownership challenges. Volunteers will work on new home units off Daly Estates Drive until Friday and single mom Kristin Holton will move into her new home in July—showing the event’s local impact. Central Oregon Daily

- ➤ M’s Bakery opened its store in January in the Old Mill District and quickly built a loyal following with Mexican-inspired pastries and breakfast items that blend European techniques and local flavors. Owners Dario Muciño and Macy Davis will soon expand their offerings with gluten-free breads and vegan croissants—plans include wholesale sales and a license to sell beer and wine. The Oregonian

- ➤ The Oregon Supreme Court ruled that previously excluded police interview statements are now admissible in the Bend murder trial of Randall Kilby—accused of fatally assaulting Daphne Banks and already serving a life term for killing two roommates with a hatchet—while a status hearing remains delayed pending formal signing. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Oregon DMV announced Monday a new online tool that lets drivers report serious motor vehicle collisions on DMV2U—this tool meets state law requiring collision reports within 72 hours when injuries, death or property damage over $2,500 occur. Central Oregon Daily
- ➤ Bend Parks and Recreation and the Bend Police Department began reminding local dog owners about designated on- and off-leash areas Monday — the campaign will continue for the rest of the week. KBND
- ➤ Sen. Jeff Merkley held three town halls in Madras, Prineville and Sisters over the weekend to warn of a shift toward authoritarian rule and to urge voters to hold officials accountable—voters expressed concern over federal funding cuts to the Forest Service as fire season approached.
