  • Kiel Hart, owner of Earth Alien Studios, is competing in a national contest to become People’s Artist and hopes to win $25,000 plus a feature in a L.A. magazine and museum by showcasing his pyrography art on wood.  Central Oregon Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • ODOT crews are working on road construction projects across Central Oregon that may cause delays in Deschutes, Sisters, Terrebonne and Redmond. Projects include sign footing installation on Powell Butte Highway and improved ADA ramps and curbs with scheduled night work subject to weather conditions.  KTVZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Retired Bend doctor Dr. Stephen Kornfeld, who planned a birding trip, stepped in on the MV Hondius after its doctor fell ill amid a hantavirus outbreak that has sickened five and killed three — he now cares for over 100 passengers as the ship heads toward Spain’s Canary Islands.  The Oregonian

  • Over 800 participants gathered in Riverbend Park on Saturday for the annual Happy Girls Run featuring a 5K, 10K, and half-marathon + local vendors supporting women and community causes. A portion of the proceeds was donated to Vamanos Outside.  Central Oregon Daily
