Good morning, Bend. Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 30th of April.

CULTURE NEWS

  • The High Desert Museum in Bend is showing Frank S. Matsura’s 'Portraits from the Borderland' until Sept. 7 — the exhibit displays playful enlarged stamp photos and artifacts that capture early 20th-century Indigenous and Western cultures. After its Bend run, the exhibition will travel to Portland from Sept. 27 to Feb. 8.  The Oregonian
  • The High Desert Museum in Bend opened the E. L. Wiegand Ponderosa Playscape on April 19, offering families an outdoor space near the otter exhibit with a 12-foot pinecone walk-through, a log jumble, and wood carvings that show the ponderosa pine's life cycle. The project was funded by the E. L. Wiegand Foundation, a $100,000 grant from the Bend Sustainability Fund, and individual donations (with carvings by Sisters artist J. Chester Armstrong) and marks the first step in a planned campus expansion.  The Oregonian

Wildlife experts are closely monitoring both patients as they receive intensive care.  KTVZ
  • Dozens joined a wildfire preparedness fair at the Sunriver Homeowners Aquatic Center Tuesday to learn ways to protect their homes from fire.
