ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Federal spending cuts canceled a $200,000 grant meant to fund paid trail maintenance from May until October, leaving the Deschutes Trails Coalition scrambling to cover the gap — local officials warn that safety and ongoing repairs on national forest trails may suffer without full federal support.  Bend Bulletin
  • More than 300 volunteers joined the 32nd annual Spring Thing event at Smith Rock State Park on Saturday to repair trails and restore native habitat — they worked on 25 projects including the Misery Ridge Trail and ended the day with food, vendors, yoga, and a raffle.  Central Oregon Daily

SPORTS NEWS

  • Oregon State added center Noah Amenhauser from the transfer portal—he is 7-2 with a season average of 10.8 points and six rebounds—and the move helped rebuild the lineup after key players left on NIL deals.
