- ➤ Sisters High School students are taking part in a bioblitz from April 14-27 to count local species at four proposed wildlife crossing sites along US Highway 20 near Black Butte (an area with high wildlife-vehicle collisions); the data will guide design for future crossing structures to improve safety. - ➤ In Sisters, a record $385,250 in scholarships will be awarded to 68 graduating seniors by Sisters GRO (each student will receive at least $1,500). The growing program shows strong community support that will boost the future of local education. Central Oregon Daily

- ➤ Think Wild has broken ground on a new aquatic mammal enclosure at its facility on the corner of Erickson and Neff Road, where construction will last two to three months to help river otters and beavers recover for a return to the wild. Central Oregon Daily
- ➤ Firefighters cancelled Tuesday’s planned 501-acre prescribed burn southeast of Bend after igniting 200 acres Monday due to unfavorable weather. Trail closures remain on nearby OHV routes (for Trails #020, #022, and #025) until mop-up and safety checks allow reopening, and the burn will be rescheduled. KTVZ

- ➤ Bend Park & Recreation District staff briefed the board at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on a refined trail plan to manage unapproved trails, parking, and erosion issues at north Shevlin Park amid rising neighborhood use. - ➤ Bend paddlers Chelsey Magness and Daniel Staudigel broke a long-distance paddling record on the Willamette River when they completed 150.4 miles in 17 hours, 44 minutes after leaving Eugene at dawn on Friday. Universal Health Plan Town Hall (Free + Open To All)
Oregon is creating universal health care legislation. This Town Hall is currently the only in-person chance in Central Oregon to hear from the people writing the state's legislation and to ask questions/provide comments.
