CULTURE NEWS

  • Renowned cellist Peter Wiley and pianist Anna Polonsky will perform in High Desert Chamber Music’s Celebrity Recitals on Apr. 20 in Bend, featuring works by Beethoven, Schubert, and Rachmaninoff. Tickets are available online and at the Downtown Bend office.  KTVZ
  • Garage-rock revivalists The Strokes will perform at Hayden Homes Amphitheater on Aug. 25, their only Oregon tour stop, with supporting act ÖLÜM joining them (presale begins Thursday at 10 a.m. online while general tickets go on sale Friday at Ticket Mill).  Bend Bulletin

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bend-La Pine Schools released its 2026-27 calendar that shows start dates (Sept. 9, 10 and 11) and scheduled breaks, including holidays from Oct. 28 to May 31 so families can plan early.  Central Oregon Daily

FINANCE NEWS

  • Both the IRS and the state let you track your refund online after you filed your 2025 returns before the April 15 deadline. The IRS says most refunds will arrive within 21 days for direct deposits while e-fileed state refunds take about two weeks (paper returns may take longer).  The Oregonian

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Oregon taxpayers must file their tax year 2025 returns by midnight Wednesday, April 15. The Department of Revenue advises filing online or in-person at local offices in Bend, Eugene, Gresham, Medford and Portland to ensure returns are postmarked on time.  KTVZ
  • Drivers in Three Rivers face delays as a roundabout project is under construction until April 26. A section of Huntington Road is closed, and traffic is rerouted via Vandervet Road (south along Highway 97 to State Recreation Road).  Central Oregon Daily
  • Four and a half miles of Tumalo Reservoir Road are being overhauled with bike lanes and a smooth surface though neighbors worry the wider road could spur faster traffic—county officials will reinstall speed limit signs with detours in place until the $5.2 million project finishes in July.  Central Oregon Daily

  • Bend's Megan Hyland returned to marathoning after nearly a decade away to win the top women’s spot at the Bend Marathon on Sunday morning, finishing in 3:03 while covering a challenging 26.2-mile course that followed her familiar home roads — a notable achievement.  Bend Bulletin
  • Head coach Lisa Kienzle juggles her husband's stage 4 leukemia treatment while leading her undefeated Caldera softball team. Standout pitcher Brooke Chapin and teammates are set to play today at Summit at 4:30 p.m. Their recent win and resilience highlight a season shaped by both personal trials + determination.  Bend Bulletin
