  • Central Oregon fire preparedness groups held an event Saturday in Prineville where residents assembled wildfire safety kits and learned home-hardening tips amid concerns from the La Pine fire and low snow levels.   • International Dark Sky Week runs from today to April 20 and gives locals a chance to explore certified dark sky spots across central Oregon including Oregon Outback, Sisters, and Antelope.  Central Oregon Daily

  • Oregon gardeners are advised to prepare soil with organic matter & check frost dates for a thriving spring garden. In Bend, residents should note that the last frost will occur on June 14, so selecting annuals or perennials suited to local conditions is key.  Central Oregon Daily

  • COCC hosted La Copa del High Desert on Sunday for a friendly rivalry soccer game + Latinx cultural celebration featuring food and loteria on its Bend campus. Organizers said the event aimed to build community and help students connect.  Central Oregon Daily
  • Riders from across the country competed at the Great Northwest Nationals at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds yesterday as local teams from Bend BMX and Smith Rock BMX took part in the prestigious USA BMX National Series to earn points and rankings.  KTVZ
