- ➤ On Monday, April 6, a Luderman Crossing homeowner wrote a guest column arguing that the proposed Reed Market and SE 15 improvements will remove trees and buffers and intensify traffic risks for residents, cyclists and pedestrians — a change that could lessen the neighborhood’s natural appeal. - ➤ Bend Parks and Recreation District is hiring for summer positions to support camps, swimming and outdoor programs for helpers 15 and older; job roles include camp leadership, swim instruction & customer service, and applicants can check current openings online. KTVZ

- ➤ Worthy Brewing Company in Bend uses sustainable processes to brew beer and prepare food. The company sources locally grown hops from Salmon-Safe certified farms and uses fresh produce from its on-site garden (with natural pest control) to support the environment. KTVZ

- ➤ Gas prices in Bend hit $5 for the first time since 2022 on Monday as rising oil costs linked to the U.S. war with Iran pushed regular gas to about $5.01 per gallon, according to AAA. Cheaper rates are available at stores like Costco and ARCO in town. Central Oregon Daily

- ➤ Eighth-grade students at Pilot Butte Middle School watched the Artemis II spacecraft beat Apollo 13's distance record Monday as the crew named new lunar craters and played a recorded message from the late Jim Lovell. - ➤ Federal funds of over $27 million have been announced for more than 25 Oregon airports, including a $3.45 million terminal expansion at Redmond and $300K for Prineville runway rehabilitation. The investments will enhance safety + support local business and emergency response. KTVZ

- ➤ Twenty Central Oregon boys track and field athletes who excelled last year are now making waves as they prepare for district and state championships in late May — their performances set high hopes for the season. Bend Bulletin
- ➤ Chimi Gilbert of Trinity Lutheran was named 2A co-Player of the Year after helping his team win its first state championship, announced by the OSAA last week.
