  • On Saturday at Mt. Bachelor, the 13th annual Gerry Lopez Big Wave Challenge mixed surf and snow on the slopes—dozens of competitors joined the event. Anne DosPassos hosted the fundraiser that benefited Pat Malendoski and Michele Schnake while honoring local surfer Gerry Lopez who has called Bend home for over 30 years.  KTVZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Congresswoman Janelle Bynum held a town hall meeting at Sisters High School on Saturday to answer residents’ questions and address concerns about inflation, healthcare costs, and potential federal program cuts—demonstrating her commitment to bringing local issues to Washington.  KTVZ
  • The Bend City Council is revising street design standards to match new transportation priorities — the changes will update how streets are built and used in the city.  Bend Bulletin

HEALTH NEWS

  • Experts from the Oregon Health Authority answered questions from residents, including one from Bend, about measles risk and vaccine protection. They explained that people born after 1957 may have less lasting immunity if they did not catch measles in childhood due to early one-shot vaccines—and adults traveling to outbreak areas should get two doses of the MMR vaccine.  The Oregonian
