- ➤ James Beard Award-winning chef Vince Nguyen will reopen his Vietnamese bakery as a standalone cafe at the end of this month+his pop-up during the pandemic gained widespread local praise. The Oregonian
- ➤ POWDR Corp. announced Friday that it would keep Mt. Bachelor indefinitely and plans more improvements after listing the resort for sale eight months ago. A group of local residents tried to bid for the property but could not submit an offer—highlighting strong community interest. KTVZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Deschutes County will begin road work projects April 6 to 12—including a 24-hour closure on Hamehook Road until April 9 and grading on Wilcox Avenue, as well as closing Knott Road for irrigation work starting April 7. Other projects by the City of Bend and state agencies include concrete work on U.S. 97 and intersection closures on Deschutes Market Road while Cascade Lakes Highway and Paulina Lake Road remain closed for winter; road users should use caution during the weekday work hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. County of Deschutes
- ➤ Bend Municipal Airport is building a new $10 million air traffic control tower and its seven-story steel frame is nearly complete with one more floor to add before finishing in January 2026. Airport Manager Tracy Williams said the tower—set to guide takeoffs and landings from an eight-story perch—will improve safety for the busy airport. The Oregonian
