- ➤ The Deschutes Trails Coalition announced today that it is accepting applications for its Small Project Grant program to award up to $30,000 for trail projects in Deschutes County and the Deschutes National Forest (including parts of neighboring counties) with proposals due by May 22. KTVZ
- ➤ The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office seeks volunteer mentors for the Central Oregon Partnerships for Youth (COPY) program that pairs adults with children with an incarcerated parent. The 3½-hour orientation is set for Saturday, April 11 and requires advanced registration. Central Oregon Daily
- ➤ Van Perry joined Family Access Network’s board of directors on Wednesday, April 1, bringing more than 30 years of global leadership experience from technology to outdoor adventure — his appointment is expected to boost the nonprofit’s fundraising efforts and support families in need across Central Oregon. - ➤ Pacific Power customers will see a 4% rate increase and PGE customers a 5% raise today following Tuesday’s Public Utility Commission approval. The changes come amid higher fuel costs and planned grid upgrades — a result of the new FAIR Energy Act limiting winter rate hikes. Central Oregon Daily
- ➤ AAA reported that regular unleaded in Bend was $4.93 a gallon Tuesday amid rising global fuel costs due to supply disruptions — drivers are watching for further increases as summer travel boosts demand. Local consumers may face higher refueling expenses in the coming weeks. Central Oregon Daily

- ➤ Central Oregon Community College will host its High School Math Contest on Thursday, April 16 at the Bend campus from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. More than 150 students from 13 schools will compete in math challenges and themed photo ops (with professors in Doc Brown and Marty McFly costumes). KTVZ

- ➤ Deschutes County Community Development will host the Terrebonne Community Plan Open House Tuesday, April 7 from 5-7 p.m. at the Terrebonne Community School cafeteria (1199 B Avenue) to collect residents' input on a 20-year growth plan. County of Deschutes
- ➤ The Oregon Department of Human Services and the Oregon Employment Department offer free employment and training support to SNAP recipients at 37 WorkSource centers across the state to help them meet the federal work requirement — 80 hours a month — that could affect benefits if not met. - ➤ Governor Kotek declared a drought emergency in Deschutes, Baker and Umatilla counties today by Executive Order 26-05 as forecasts call for below-normal precipitation and streamflow this summer—state agencies will expedite reviews and lower fees to help local growers, livestock and water supplies.
