CULTURE NEWS

  • Over a hundred people lined up at Ticket Mill Friday morning for discounted Widespread Panic tickets as Hayden Homes Amphitheater and the Old Mill offered food and beverages. Fans will attend the band's two-day concert on July 10 — 11.  Central Oregon Daily
  • Bend held a memorial service at Deschutes Memorial Gardens Saturday to honor Vietnam veterans, including the 28 local service members who never returned, and to recognize the families carrying their legacy.  Central Oregon Daily

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A prominent business group has urged Gov. Kotek’s prosperity council to adopt bolder economic policies — warning that Oregon risks only modest growth if it settles for small changes. The council, led by Bend’s former Senate Minority Leader Tim Knopp, plans to issue formal recommendations this summer.  The Oregonian

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Camp Fire Central Oregon is hosting its spring break day camp at Thompson School gymnasium for kindergarteners through fifth graders. The camp offers hands-on wildlife lessons and crafts about desert animals and environmental care, running daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (extended care until 5:30 p.m.).  Bend Bulletin

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Two orphaned bobcat kittens rescued in May 2025 near a roadside in Condon were released on March 20 near Dayville after 10 months at Bend-based Think Wild — the animals now begin living independently. Officials said the care helped them learn to hunt and survive.  The Oregonian

SPORTS NEWS

  • Starting Wednesday, March 31, Class 1 pedal-assist e-bikes will be allowed on 161 miles of singletrack in Deschutes National Forest west of Bend. The U.S. Forest Service and COTA (Central Oregon Trail Alliance) reached the decision after thorough review and community input to balance rider access with wildlife protection.  Bend Bulletin
