- ➤ Central Oregon submarine veterans christened the 19-foot model submarine S.S. Redside at Riverbend Park on Saturday morning amid veterans, family and community members. Base commander Rick Neault said the group will use the model for parades and plans a permanent memorial (featuring a nuclear sub propeller) in a busy park. Bend Bulletin
- ➤ Bend 11-year-old Holden Heck organized the inaugural Runs for Wishes Ski-A-Thon at Mt. Bachelor to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Oregon. The event saw local skiers and snowboarders contribute pledges and aims to grant wishes for children facing critical illnesses. Central Oregon Daily

- ➤ A federal proposal aims to quadruple logging on public lands in 18 Oregon counties to boost county revenue and reduce wildfire risks. Local officials and environmental groups, including representatives near Bend, will soon weigh economic relief against the loss of protective wildlife habitat and cherished outdoor spaces.
