- ➤ Ponderosa Players will perform Spring Awakening today at The Ponderosa Playhouse on Revere Ave, offering a fresh take on the coming-of-age musical with older student actors. - ➤ Krullfest, a tribute event — honoring local punk figure Preston Krull — will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday at Silver Moon Brewing in Bend. - ➤ Samara Learning Center received a $1,100 grant from the Dudley T. Dougherty Foundation to support tutoring for neurodivergent students at its MAPLE program. The grant funds small-group and individual instruction for students with ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, and autism (and other learning needs). Bend Bulletin
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Oregon Department of Revenue has begun issuing tax refunds for the 2025 tax year — taxpayers who filed electronically can expect refunds within two weeks while paper filers will see delays until late March. Central Oregon Daily
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Newborn hepatitis B vaccination rates have fallen over the past four years, with 82% of infants receiving the birth dose in 2024 compared with 86% in 2022, according to the Oregon Health Authority’s new dashboard. The data also shows a drop in birth parent screening, which may increase the risk for infants. Central Oregon Daily
- ➤ St. Charles Health System will cover tuition and a stipend for COCC medical assistant students, including 10 in a six-month course in June and 20 in a nine-month program in September.
