  • The High Desert Food & Farm Alliance is awarding $25,000 in on-farm efficiency grants (up to $3,000 per farm) to 10 Central Oregon farms this winter. The funds support projects aimed at extending growing seasons and boosting sustainability for local agriculture.  KTVZ
  • On Tap in northeast Bend hosts a Fat Tuesday fundraiser today from 5 to 7 p.m. that donates $1 per pint to St. Charles Integrative Therapies in honor of a community member’s cancer journey — live music, king cakes and New Orleans-style specials round out the event.  Central Oregon Daily

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Five local beer and cider makers have formed the Oregon Beverage Collective (OBC) to pool resources and keep each brand unique. The alliance, which includes Crux Fermentation Project, Silver Moon Brewing, Cascade Lakes Brewing, GoodLife Brewing and Tumalo Cider, may spur innovation while prices remain unchanged.  Central Oregon Daily
  • Downtown Bend now welcomes The Hudson at the former 900 Wall location, a live-fire chophouse and social club open Wednesday through Saturday evenings. A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 10 pm today so drivers should use caution on slippery roads.  Central Oregon Daily

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Trinity Lutheran will open its expanded high school campus today at 7:40 a.m. at Empire Avenue + Butler Market Road; the $18 million project adds eight classrooms, including a new science lab, to serve a growing student body.  Central Oregon Daily
  • Bend adventurers Kristen and Ville Jokinen will speak about their CDT trek and global cycling adventures on Friday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at OSU-Cascades Ray Hall Atrium, sharing insights on openness, kindness and building community.  Bend Bulletin

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • WorkSource Oregon and the Oregon Department of Revenue are hosting six tax assistance events at local centers from Feb. 18 (Woodburn) to March 25 (Bend) where residents can receive free help filing state and federal taxes. Attendees should bring tax documents and create a Revenue Online account ahead of time.  Bend Bulletin

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • In Bend, median prices for single-family homes fell to $680,000 in January from $686,000 while sales dropped to 89—broker David Gilmore said the decline follows seasonal trends as the market prepares for spring.  Bend Bulletin

  • Nominees for Oregon Girls Basketball Player of the Week were announced by local coaches, fans and readers, with voting closing Sunday at 11:59 p.m. (The winner was announced Monday.)  The Oregonian
  • On Saturday at Juniper Swim & Fitness Center, the Mountain View boys upset defending champs Bend High by winning 291 to 283 while the Bend High girls claimed a fourth straight title with 402 points.  Bend Bulletin
