  • Casey Andrews was named the new executive director of the Central Oregon Trails Alliance following an extensive search involving board members and volunteers. The longtime Bend resident brings 15 years of public lands management experience, including work with the National Park Service & Forest Service.  KTVZ
  • An Oregon matchmaking agency is hosting multiple speed dating events for singles (aged 21 to 75) in Central Oregon ahead of Valentine's Day. The events will be held later this week as an in-person alternative to dating apps.  Central Oregon Daily

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Deschutes County Search and Rescue team rescued two young hikers lost off the Green Lakes Trailhead past Mt Bachelor Saturday night, reaching them by snowmobiles + snowshoes and providing warming supplies; both were unharmed.  KBND

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Thomason Auto Group is closing its Bend and Redmond locations after owner (Chris Thomason) died last month; the dealership thanked the community for 10 years of support and did not provide a closing date.  Central Oregon Daily
  • The Eddie Bauer store at Bend Outlet Mall on S. Hwy 97 is set to close after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Feb. 9 (with all North American locations scheduled for shutdown if a buyer is not found). Customers can continue shopping online.  Central Oregon Daily

  • A.M. Interstate will perform with Mari & the Dream at Silver Moon Brewing on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m., where they will present new tracks from their album Transformation and offer vinyl copies for sale.  Bend Bulletin
  • Elli Aparico and Tommy Wolter, both nurses who got engaged on the Oregon Coast, surprised fans when they wed during Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show. The couple exchanged vows during Lady Gaga's set at Levi's Stadium.  Central Oregon Daily

  • Think Wild is offering Valentine’s Day gift baskets filled with local goodies to support wildlife conservation; orders must be placed by 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11 at the Think Wild wildlife hospital (62410 Erickson Road) with pick-up on Friday, Feb. 13 and delivery on Saturday, Feb. 14.  Central Oregon Daily

  • Mount Bachelor picked up 13 inches of snow from a weekend storm — enhancing skiing and snowboarding conditions — while Hoodoo Ski Area remains closed pending additional snow.  Central Oregon Daily
  • The Sisters girls basketball team earned a record 17 wins with a 58-35 victory over Elmira on Friday and will play at Pleasant Hill Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. + Friday at La Pine. The team now ranks in the top five of Class 3A in their conference.  Bend Bulletin
