- ➤ School of Rock Bend will hold its '90s Experience kickoff concert at Domino Room (51 NW Greenwood Ave.) on Sunday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. The event features student performances of classic rock hits and tickets cost $12.50. Bend Bulletin
- ➤ Central Oregon Community College was awarded a $2.2 million grant to develop seven short-term manufacturing technology certificates for 250 students; it will use the funds to remodel its Redmond campus training center and hire faculty with community partners helping design the programs. - ➤ Bend High School’s remodel is on schedule with paint and cabinet updates progressing in the new classroom wing — readying the building for student move-in next fall while mechanical, electrical and plumbing work continues. - ➤ Deschutes County is exploring biochar production from woody debris left by fuels reduction projects on county-owned land to ease disposal challenges. The county submitted a grant request for up to $1.5 million and a Letter of Interest today — a pilot project that may contract with an existing air curtain burner provider. Bend Bulletin

- ➤ Central Oregon schools will not see any immediate changes from the new federal nutrition guidelines — which emphasize more meat, whole milk, fresh vegetables and whole grains — as officials say updates will be phased in gradually over the next 6 to 18 months. Bend Bulletin
