- ➤ A new 56,000 sqft Redmond Aquatic and Recreation Center (with indoor/outdoor pools, fitness areas, childcare and a gymnasium) is on track to open in July after video footage captured Monday showed major progress following construction delays. KTVZ
- ➤ Tomorrow, Jan. 14, Bend PD will host Tip-A-Cop at Red Robin in the Old Mill District to benefit Special Olympics athletes. Officers will serve food from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and mentioning the flyer will channel 20 percent of food sales to support its Polar Plunge team. KTVZ
- ➤ A Bend pilot program is combining cash assistance with housing navigation and support services to help youth experiencing homelessness get housing. Run by Point Source Youth and YEHP at ODHS, the pilot reports 94 percent of 120 participants housed (a second cohort in Jackson County is scheduled to begin soon). KTVZ

- ➤ A new food truck lot will open May 1 behind Powder House in southwest Bend with 10 truck spots, a commissary kitchen and event space. - ➤ The Oregon DEQ extended an air quality advisory for southern Deschutes County through Friday morning at 10 a.m. Residents are urged to avoid strenuous outdoor activity + check local burn restrictions to protect their health. KTVZ
- ➤ Local skiers learned about the crucial role of endangered whitebark pine during a lunch and learn hosted by Adventure Scientists at Mt. Bachelor last Friday. They joined an on-snow tour that showed survey techniques to help track the trees and potentially extend the ski season. Central Oregon Daily

- ➤ Visit Bend, the city's nonprofit tourism arm, is seeking applicants to fill four board positions that serve three-year terms.
