- ➤ The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office is recruiting volunteer mentors for its COPY program to support children with incarcerated parents. Orientation and training take place on Saturday, Jan. 17 in Bend (registration is required). Central Oregon Daily

- ➤ Oregrown, a well-known cannabis brand that opened in Bend 11 years ago, held its grand opening for its second Central Oregon location at 2127 S Hwy 97 in Redmond this past weekend. The shop offers discounted products and aims to boost local access and job growth (VP Brett Wiley). Source Weekly

- ➤ Portland officials have banned gas-powered leaf blowers from January through September for the next two years, with a full ban starting Jan. 1, 2028—measures aimed at reducing air pollution and noise. Other cities, including Bend, are watching as they consider similar shifts to cleaner technology. The Oregonian
- ➤ An irrigation canal on the south side of Bend flows again as the Central Oregon Irrigation District begins a winter water delivery to ranchers in Powell Butte, Alfalfa and east Bend — the run is expected to last through Thursday. Central Oregon Daily

- ➤ Hoodoo Ski Area will open at 9 a.m. Thursday if a forecasted winter storm brings 15 to 20 inches of snow, enabling full operations and night skiing at Santiam Pass — the lodge opens at 8 a.m. and a new online ticket system is set to speed service. Bend Bulletin
